Community Fit Club 4 Kids is a fun healthy lifestyle programme for children and young people aged 8-13. Our aim is to help children develop healthy living skills through fun physical activity and our weekly lifestyle challenges.
Getting the healthiest start in life gives children the best chance of growing into healthy and happy adults as lessons we learn when we are young shape our expectations and actions for when we are older.
We know that being healthy and feeling good is far from boring and it doesn't mean denying yourself the foods you really like to eat or the pastimes you enjoy the most.
Children and families who take part in Community Fit Club 4 Kids will have access to an amazing 36 weeks of support from a skilled and qualified team who have been hand-picked because they are passionate about helping people to feel great and because they are brilliant at what they do!
WE LOOK AT THE BIG PICTURE
There are lots of things you can do towards living a healthier lifestyle and feeling great. For example, you can eat a healthier, more balanced diet. You could also be more active, perhaps walking more or playing outside with your friends more. At Community Fit Club 4 Kids we put lots of these things together at the same time so that you get all the very best benefits possible. So we don't just look at one area of your lifestyle, we look at lots of things, such as what time you go to bed and how much water you drink and how much time you spend relaxing.
WE LIVE IN THE REAL WORLD
We know that some of this stuff takes a bit of getting used to. Doing things differently can feel a bit strange at first, this is why we are here to help. Our staff are there to encourage you and to give you ideas and to help you learn new skills and new games. We aren't there to tell you off if it doesn't work out right first time, and we definitely aren't the diet police!
Some healthy lifestyle programmes expect too much but we live in the real world. We know that you have other interests and other things you have to do, like school work and family stuff, so it's up to you to do as much as you want to. We will give you weekly challenges to try, each one different but fun. They are made so that you can complete them very quickly, but if you really enjoy them, you can challenge yourself to do a bit more if you like.
WEEKLY CLUB
Your local Community Fit Club 4 Kids session is run each week at the same time and it follows the same pattern each week. The first part of the session we ask you about how you did with the challenge we set you the week before. There may be points to be awarded to those who have done particularly well.
Then comes the really fun bit where you get to play lots of team games. These will help you learn new skills such as balance and coordination. We mix and match up the games so that we keep it fresh and exciting. The best bit about this part is that it's lots of fun. Whether you like games at school or not, we know you'll like this.
Then at the end we'll give you a new challenge to take home and try for the following week.
FAMILIES ARE WELCOME
It makes sense doesn't it, to invite your family along too, after all, if you live together it makes it easier for you if everybody has a go at making some healthy changes at the same time. Maybe you can persuade mum or dad or another relative to come with you or perhaps you have a brother or sister who would like to take part. They can play the games too. But if you just want to come on your own and enjoy yourself with your friends from the club then that's fine too. When you join, we will need you to bring us a form completed by your parents or the person who looks after you. We need to make sure they know what the club is about and where you'll be each week. We want them to know that you're safe and we need to know if you have any illness or anything that could make it hard for you to take part. This is to make sure we keep you in tip top condition.
At any time your parents or the person loking after you can talk to us if they have any questions about the club.
MY HEALTHY LIFESTYLE FOLDER
All members of Community Fit Club 4 Kids get a FREE folder when they start. It contains lots of great advice and information and each week you get to add a new page to it. By the time you have completed the programme you'll have an amazing personal folder to look back on.
BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD
Community Fit Club 4 Kids runs over 36 weeks during school term time. We do three blocks of 12 weeks each term, with a half term break in the middle, just like school. The first 12 weeks is the Bronze stage and the challenges are very easy to get you started. The next 12 weeks is the Silver stage. The challenges get a bit harder but we know you can do it! The final 12 weeks is the Gold stage where the challenges get a bit harder still, but by then you'll be able to master them with no problem at all!
After each level you will get a certificate and a sticker to congratulate you for doing so well.
